YARDSALE develops ski gear that helps make your days at the mountain easier and more fun. Looking to expand their product line beyond the slopes, we partnered together to reimagine the everyday tote bag. A carryall packed with thoughtful features to make organizing ski gear effortless, the tote is also versatile enough for everyday life. Whether you are heading to your ski locker, catching a flight, or grabbing some groceries, this tote is designed to carry your day, wherever it takes you.

Purpose-built organization.

From the lodge to the lift line, we began exploring different ways of carrying the ski day essentials: a pair of gloves, a helmet, some goggles, a laptop and some snacks. The volume of these items helped us define the appropriate footprint and shape, while several brainstorm sessions and proto builds tested different organizational and storage details. Whether it was a quick sketch or more robust build, each idea was a step closer towards a refined, thoughtful solution. Combining waterproof fabrics with a softer, less-technical aesthetic, our goal was to design a day bag with enough functionality to lug all your gear from the first chair to aprés - or wherever the day takes you.

The final proto - first impressions.

With the core features ironed out and a tight travel timeline to hit, we brought all of the details together for one last prototype build. The crew at Yardsale was headed south to Chile, and this was the perfect opportunity to pressure test the tote. We were able to build with the final materials and incorporate all of the features giving their team a chance to really trial the design before committing to a final spec.

Air travel to aprés.

Just as the prototype was finished and shipped out, it was packed full of gear to make the trip from San Francisco to Portillo, Chile. This was the first true test of the features and functionality. From air travel to aprés, the design - and trip - was a success. With only a few minor tweaks, we buttoned up the spec and the tote was ready for hand off and production.

"We couldn’t be more psyched about this bag and think our core customers will love it!"
